Maria Broadstreet (Co-founder)
R.N., MSN, CPNP currently practices at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago (former Children’s Memorial Hospital) as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the Heart Center. Her responsibilities include care and management of patients in the CICU, pre and post op surgical clinic and following high risk patients with complex cardiac disease. She is also actively involved in recruitment of cardiac patients to Lurie’s Developmental Clinic and has an active interest in research on how cardiac disease affects short and long term developmental milestones. Maria is CEO of “Maria Broadstreet Consulting”. She has been retained and consults on a variety of pediatric malpractice cases around the country. In addition, she is a well known national speaker presenting to medical professionals on a variety of pediatric topics, including Allergies & Asthma, Pediatric Primary Care, Pediatric Emergencies, Pediatric Cardiology/Cardiac Surgery and Pediatric Shock. In 2015, Maria brings to MMI over 20 years of nursing experience. She graduated with her BSN from Loyola in 1993 and MSN in 2000 and is certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in both primary and acute care. Throughout her career she has practiced in several different roles, including bedside nursing, primary care, medical consultation/sales and has served as adjunct faculty at DePaul University and Loyola in their MSN and BSN Nursing Programs. As a sought after speaker for the past 10 years, Maria’s dynamic approach to learning is done in a fun environment. Attention is paid to accommodate multiple adult learning styles and engages active audience participation. She personalizes her seminars with personal stories, videos and fun games to ensure you have a solid understanding of new concepts/diagnosis/treatment that you can use immediately upon returning to your practice.
Terese Castellanos, LCSW (Co-founder)
With close to two decades of clinical experience in the field of mental health, Terese Castellanos is a dynamic clinician and consultant to not only the patients she has had the privilege of working with over the years but to those in the health care industry where she works as a behavioral health consultant in primary care.Working in the medical and mental health field, she recognized the need for professionals to have a platform where they can attend training seminars that would offer the strategies and tools needed to be better in-tuned with the needs of their patients. It was this idea that led Terese and her partner Maria Broadstreet to create the Medical Mind Institute.
Working with hundreds of professionals throughout the year, Terese and her team work to ensure that each professional leaves the seminar with tools that can be put into daily practice with good results. Working collaboratively with primary care providers, as a behavioral health consultant, Terese works with the provider to find the best interventions for treatment as a comprehensive way to deliver patient care.
Terese received her bachelors degree in psychology from DePaul University and went on to receive her masters degree in clinical social work and is a practicing licensed clinical social worker.She maintains a private practice where she is an expert in crisis and trauma treatment to include PTSD, anxiety, depression, bereavement grief, family conflict, relationship issues, and life transitions. Terese introduces her clients to new strategies of increasing self-awareness and self-acceptance that leads to healthy change and personal growth.
